E-mail Print (3) Comments Text size Share Buzz up!Jon and Kate Gosselin may be heading for splitsville, but even a divorce wouldn’t squash their lucrative reality TV show careers.
New York Reality TV School founder Robert Galinksy - who is coming to the Hub next week - says a divorce has the makings of the “perfect spinoff.”
“You get two-for-one here,” says Galinsky, who has trained the likes of Angel Chang of Bravo TV’s “The Fashion Show” and Jorge Bendersky of Animal Planet’s “Groomer Has It.”
Both Jon and Kate have been accused of cheating - and the couple couldn’t hide their contempt for each other during Monday night’s ratings-bonanza, season five premiere of TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8.”
Should the couple part ways, Galinsky says smart producers would follow Jon on his journey - and Kate on hers - and watch how the kids adapt.
“This is not sheer entertainment anymore,” he said. “It’s sort of a sociological, almost a documentary, at this point.”
“If it’s done tastefully, it could be a great experience for us to watch,” Galinsky added.
His advice for the duo?
“Continue to be completely honest and let us watch the true nature of a relationship as it evolves,” Galinksy said. “They can’t hide from the cameras.”
Galinsky started his reality TV school last June, and he also works with reality TV show vets, such as Trends from VH1’s “I Love New York.”
A few months after launching his school, Galinsky realized there was an opportunity to bring his training techniques into the corporate arena.
On Monday, Galinsky plans to host a seminar for Women@Thomson Reuters in Boston to work on improving their public presentation skills.
“When somebody does really well on a show, they’re building fans. Fans are basically customers,” Galinksy said. “It’s the same thing in the corporate arena.”
The union representating local TV photographers, editors and technicians has filed a grievance and unfair labor practice charge over the deal struck by WBZ-TV (Ch. 4) and WFXT-TV (Ch. 25) to share video and a helicopter.
In an e-mail to shop members, Andy Dubrovsky of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1228 said the union believes the stations have violated the National Labor Relations Act by entering into the deal without bargaining it with the union first.
Dubrovsky said last night that he believes the video sharing will result in layoffs. The union represents about 70 Channel 4 workers and is negotiating to represent about 100 at Fox 25. A WBZ spokeswoman declined comment. A Fox 25 spokeswoman couldn’t be reached for comment last night.

Kate Gosselin to Release Love Is in the Mix Cookbook
Wednesday May 27, 2009
Kate Gosselin attends a signing for her books "Eight Little Faces" and "Multiple Bles8ings" at Barnes & Noble at the Americana April 14, 2009 in Glendale, CA.
David Livingston/Getty Images CelebNews@Usmagazine.com! - Kate Gosselin to Release Love Is in the Mix Cookbook ShareThisKate Gosselin has plenty on her plate, but that isn't stopping her from publishing a new cookbook.
Her third book, Love Is in the Mix: Making Meals into Memories, is due to hit stores Oct. 13, 2009, according to Amazon.com.
See Jon and Kate Gosselin through the years.
The Jon & Kate Plus 8 star is already the author of Multiple Bles8ings: Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets and the recently released Eight Little Faces, for which she has recently traveled the nation to promote.
"Fans ... won’t want to miss this inside look at one of America’s most famous close-knit families," the back cover states.
See photos of reality love gone bad.
In addition to offering nutritious recipes and tips on eating organically, Love Is in the Mix promises to teach readers "how to craft family traditions that create happy memories" and "how to feed a large family on a budget." The book will include family photos and anecdotes about her twins and sextuplets.
According to the site, Kate will also offer insight into handling picky eaters, making lunchtime fun, planning meals for vacations, and making ordinary days "extra special."
See what your favorite stars look like with Kate Gosselin's hairdo.
Although excerpts from the book have not yet been released, commenters have already begun slamming the star's previously released recipes and claim she stole them "from product boxes and magazine articles."
One person wrote that her recipe for the cereal treat Monkey Munch -- which was mentioned on the TLC show -- is the same as one on the Chex brand website and calls it "plagiarism."
See photos of Jon Gosselin and his mistress.
Other commenters were shocked that the woman who once said that "real cooks don't need recipes" was qualified to write a cookbook. They wrote on Amazon.com that on the show, Kate does little to "no cooking, no meals, just snacks -- crackers, yogurt, grapes, cukes and peppers in pita. The woman can't cook."
Still, with Kate's previous two books reaching the New York Times Best Seller list, the book's publishers are likely expecting similar success with Love Is in the Mix. In addition to her income from book sales, the newest issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands today, reports that the Gosselins -- who live in a $1.1 million house -- earn approximately $50,000 to $75,000 per show.

Kate Gosselin is no stranger to book tours. She is on right now. She's the author of Multiple Bles8ings: Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets and Eight Little Faces, which she is pushing currently.
But Kate is a lady with great ambitions, and sharing her recipes is one of them.
Inside the book you can examine these claims.

Kate's New cookbook controversy
If the upcoming 40 episode season of Jon & Kate Plus Eight isn't enough to fill your Gosselin needs, then fear not, because now they can invade your kitchen as well as your living room.
And Kate Gosselin puts more money in her pocket!
The "struggling" wife and mother has not let the recent downward spiral of her personal life conflict with the business end. It was just announced that come this October, a third book in the Gosselin franchise will be released. This time, it's a cookbook called Love Is in the Mix: Making Meals into Memories and it's filled with recipes to feed a herd of little ones.
While no excerpts have been released, plenty of people are taking time out to slam the book for plagiarism, stating that most of her ideas are recipes found on any soup can or box. And, of course, people also had to throw their two cents in about the author, deeming her unfit to write a cookbook when she "can't cook."
She has to be feeding them something, otherwise those kids would be all dead! And, please, like a woman with a herd of that many kids has time to experiment in the kitchen. No!
But she is no fool. She knows people will buy crap simply because it has her kids' faces on it.
It's called good marketing, bbs!

Jon Gosselin Steps out with Friends From people
As speculation about the future of Jon and Kate Gosselin's troubled marriage grows, one thing is for sure: they spent the Memorial Day holiday far apart.
While Kate reportedly took the eight on a boat ride in North Carolina this week, Jon was spotted at an upstate New York bar with two women. Several witnesses at 26 Front Street bar in the Hudson River town of Newburgh tell PEOPLE that Jon stopped in with two friends Monday afternoon – a woman who appeared to be in her mid-20s and another who looked to be older.
"They came in, approached the bar, got some drinks and then stood off on their own by a railing," says a bouncer who checked Jon's ID. "They were laughing and talking and they all left together."
The bouncer says Jon and the younger woman, "were standing close at one point ... but there was not any PDA that I noticed." Jon's trip to the bar was first reported on TMZ.com.
Manager Robb Tanczos says Jon drank Miller Lite. "I didn't see any kissing, touching, caressing or anything like that," he says. "They just kind of chilled."
Both Jon and Kate have denied reports they have been unfaithful to one another.
Sources say Jon and his two friends spent about 40 minutes in the outdoor area of the Newburgh bar and left after it appeared people began noticing they were there.
"People tried taking cell phone pictures and they turned around to face the railing and kind of spread out so they weren't standing so close," says the bouncer.
"I think once people recognized him they left," adds Tanczos.
The trio also stopped into another restaurant nearby, Torches on the Hudson, for some food and drink that afternoon.
"Jon looked really relaxed and was talking to people," general manager Damien Brady tells PEOPLE. "One of the waitresses asked for an autograph and he gave it to her."

Woman Linked to Jon Gosselin Says She's Devastated by the Lies

Deanna Hummel says she is sickened by the reports circulating about her relationship with Jon Gosselin.
This week, she came forward to say she's just friends with the star of TLC's Jon & Kate Plus Eight. Now Hummel, 23, is fighting back against her brother Jason and his claims that she really is having a fling with the married father of twin daughters and sextuplets.
"My brother is making this all up," Hummel tells PEOPLE. "He has no credibility ... I can't even stomach the lies he's saying about me."
Hummel continues to deny any sort of romantic relationship with Gosselin, and the elementary school teacher admits that there's been bad blood between her and her brother for a while now. "My brother is very shady," says Hummel. "He has no job. He has a criminal background. He was charged for drug distribution. He's on probation right now."
And though the siblings live together, she says she was in the process of buying their home – and asking him to move out. "He wanted to get back at me ... he knows he's getting kicked out of the house."
Among what Jason Hummel, 28, claims is he overheard his sister having sex with the married reality star. A claim Hummel says "is completely crazy!"
She adds: "I'm so hurt that he put my occupation out there. He has put my job in jeopardy. I can't take my kids to recess without worrying that people will come up and harass me and the other teachers. It's not fair."

Jon & Kate Mom: "There's Really Never Any Going Back"

Amy Sussman/WireImage for Discovery Communications CelebNews@Usmagazine.com! - Jon & Kate Mom: "There's Really Never Any Going Back" ShareThisOne week after Us Weekly first broke the news that Jon & Kate Plus 8 dad Jon Gosselin was caught with another woman, his wife, Kate Gosselin, opens up about her husband.
"It's one of those things that we're just handling privately," Kate said on Wednesday's taping of The Rachael Ray Show. "We're just taking it one step at a time and I'm trying to walk through it."
Look back at Jon and Kate through the years.
She added: "The focus remains on our kids. It has always been there and will continue to be there. One day at a time, like we've always done. One hour at a time, one minute at a time, and my life's been like that."
Her interview with Rachael Ray -- which will air on Tuesday -- came the same day Us Weekly's current issue (on newsstands now) revealed that five people close to the situation confirmed that Jon, 32, has been having an affair with third-grade school teacher Deanna Hummel.

"It's definitely another learning experience," Kate said about the recent media attention. "I look at life through the eyes of my kids in that I've always said life experiences... I feel like you can learn something from every situation and I am absolutely learning a lot from this."
After Jon and Deanna met in mid-January at Chill Lounge in Reading, Pennsylvania (they sent each other $3 shots), Deanna's brother Jason Hummel told Us that Jon -- who has twins, 8, and sextuplets, 5 -- began relentlessly pursuing his sister. By mid-February, he was coming over to their Reading house.

(At the Hummel house, Jason says Deanna and Jon would "pretty much stay locked away like two teenagers. It was weird. He's a grown man.")
Kate said that she didn't see it coming.
"Certainly none of this could have been predicted," she said. "Now going into our fifth season, we have stepped back and realized that it is part of this process, and I always say there's really never any going back. We just need to go forward. That is my new saying -- just keep on marching through this. Just doing what we need to."
Instead of focusing on the news -- which includes Jon and Deanna spending time together while Kate was traveling in late April -- of her husband's three-month long affair, she said she is putting her attention on her eight children.

"I know that I’m continuing on as I am the best mom I know how to be and that's really where my focus is," Kate said. "I really try not to let any of that stuff that comes with it get to me."
As for comments that Kate is combative (she once chastised her husband for breathing on their TLC reality show), she made no apologies.
"Just to put it out there, I am who I am," she said. "I do not care how you see me. Call me crazy, but it's out there because I am not perfect and I will never boast that I'm perfect. Everyone makes mistakes."

CelebNews@Usmagazine.com! - Jon & Kate Dad's Three-Month Affair Confirmed ShareThisIn the new issue of Us Weekly (on newsstands Wednesday), five people close to the situation - including two relatives of the other woman - confirm that Jon & Kate Plus 8 dad Jon Gosselin, 32, has been having an affair with third grade school teacher Deanna Hummel.
The most explosive blow-by-blow details are revealed by Deanna's older brother - and roommate - Jason, who tells Us Weekly that he is speaking out now to set the record straight and to protect his naive sister.

"She's a nice girl, not a homewrecker," Jason tells Us Weekly. "He is a bad liar. This isn't healthy for her. But she is refusing to help herself, so here I am trying to help her myself. I hope this clears the air."

On April 26 - while his wife Kate was traveling - Jon had Deanna over to sunbathe in his family's front lawn (see photo, left). This was just seven days after they had first been photographed together at Legends Lounge at 2 a.m. in pictures that show he is not wearing his wedding band.
At the Hummel house, Jason says Deanna and Jon would "pretty much stay locked away like two teenagers. It was weird. He's a grown man."

He also adds, "A lot of the time, it was pretty, um, gross listening to her, you know, um — how do I say this? The walls are thin. Let’s just say that. I mean, no one wants to hear his sister having sex, let alone with a married dude who's, like, almost twice her age and who has eight kids and a maybe-crazy wife. Ick. Nast."

Doesn't look like they will be stopping anytime soon, Season 5 to kick off May 25th with Emeril joining them in the kitchen, going back to their roots, and many other suprises like dealing with the tabloid media frenzy over Jon's alleged cheating episode.
Kate was on the Today show this morning promoting the new book 8 Little Faces and she talked with Meredith about the show, the tabloid media and the fate of the show. She seemed very confident in Jon and not resentful of the media, she sees this as what happens when you are successful and it is your choice to buy the magazine or not, and to believe it or not, the juicier the story they more they pay for it, was a quote from her this morning. She said you will see how they deal with this in the show this season kind of a background type issue. Jon decided not to appear on the Today show with Kate and they both decided the kids wouldn't appear either. Jon did send a statement that was read on air.
According to her the show will go on......

People ExclusiveJon Gosselin's Mystery Woman Breaks Her Silence

The woman who set blogs ablaze last week for stepping out with Jon Gosselin has come forward to say that there's absolutely nothing romantic going on between her and the married reality star of TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8.
"We're just friends," Deanna Hummel, 23, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "It's absurd that anyone would think otherwise."
According to Hummel, she met Gosselin through a mutual pal a couple of months ago. Since then, the two have been hanging out – as part of a group of friends, not as couple. The social outings have included visits to each other's houses and nights out on the town, but always with others there, and it's always all innocent, according to Hummel.
"We just talk and socialize, the normal things you do when you see friends," says Hummel.
Hummel admits that the two did show up at Legends Bar in Reading, Pa., recently, but says a published photo of her driving Gosselin's car has been misinterpreted. "He just got this new car and I wanted to drive it. I'm into cars," she says. "We all have guy and girl friends. Because of who he is, it gets portrayed the wrong way, and it's unfair to him and his family."
She also adamantly denies that Gosselin called her "babe" while heading to his car. "He did not by any means call me 'babe,' " she says. "Nobody calls me babe. That made me laugh."
What she doesn't find funny, though, is being linked to a married man. "He's a very nice guy, don't get me wrong. But he's married with eight children," says Hummel, who is single. She adds that Gosselin "has a great family life. I would never ever think to pursue anything."
After reports broke last week that Gosselin had been spotted out late at night with a woman who is not his wife, he released a statement saying he'd shown "poor judgment."
"My family is the most important thing in my life and it kills me that these allegations have hurt them," he added.

Kate talking about her special Gosselins Go Green
Kate Gosselin totally kvetching in Jon & Kate special
Fans and foes of the hit TLC series Jon & Kate Plus 8 will be happy to know that Kate Gosselin is in fine form on the Jon & Kate Plus 8 Go Green special airing at 9 p.m. Sunday.
The Gosselins and the eight kids have this fabulous house, and now comes Steve Thomas, of Renovation Nation, to do everything from install solar panels on the roof to making a picnic table out of reclaimed wood, at no cost to her, and what is Kate doing? She's kvetching.
Not big-time kvetching at first. Kate always starts low key and then builds. But she hasn't got even a hint of a smile on her face from the moment the workmen arrive.
"I don't like projects still. I don't like dishevelment. And Steve Thomas," she says, giving a twist to her voice to mock the name, "wants me to get all excited... I mean, I was excited about this going green or whatever."
Thomas quickly gets the drift of the Kate-led household, and when the solar panels don't arrive on time during the day of installation, he asks Jon, "Is you wife going to beat you up about this?"
And Jon, revealing his survival strategy, says, "We just won't tell her."
There is some green learning to be done in this special, but mainly it is an hour intended to keep the big audience for this show happy until the new season starts May 25 -- and to remind fans and foes of what a warm and friendly person Kate can be.
I give it three and half stars for Kate's uncanny ability to instantly put a whole household and all the workmen on edge with the cranky tone of her voice and sour look on her face.

APRIL 19TH 9:00 PM Jon and Kate + 8 GO GREEN!
The Gosselin family is going green this year with the help of Planet Green's Renovation Nation host, Steve Thomas. From solar panels to eco-friendly lightbulbs, the family is transforming their new house into an eco-savy home.
Steve and his crew help the Gosselins transform their home into an "eco-savvy" dwelling by installing electric solar panels, solar thermal panels and solar powered lights along the driveway.
It is also educational for the kids, who get to help with the projects, so they learn about the environment while having fun with their mom and dad.
The fifth season of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" will premiere at the end of May.

Interview with Kate before Canada Appearance
TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8 mom Kate Gosselin is a busy lady. Besides raising eight children - a set of twins and sextuplets - with cameras in her home a few days a week, she's author to a best-selling book and a new one to promote and she's sharing some "secrets" with her fans...
Gosselin, whose new book "Eight Little Faces: A Mom's Journey" is set for release next month is making her first Canadian appearance in London, Ontario on March 22.
She recently took questions from Free Press arts and entertainment reporter Kathy Rumleski, and revealed some "secrets" on parenting, balancing work and motherhood and what the future may hold.
Here is the interview:
How do you find the time to care for the children, write two books and film your television series?
"It is my job. It is extremely crazy busy and sometimes I think I can't handle it all, but I try to look at all of the positives. I can basically make my own schedule and I really like that. Every day is a challenge and I have become a scheduling miracle worker through it all! Also, I can't forget to mention that Jon and our babysitter also make it possible for me to travel and work."
You once feared for the life of your babies, what is your biggest fear now that they are four years old?
"Balancing each of their needs, all eight of my kids."
What is your biggest challenge each day?
"Having enough time for everything that must get done!"
How do you make ends meet, especially in these economic times?
"We're doing the same things we have always done: Clipping coupons; watching for sales; stocking up when things are on sale and planning meals (and other purchases) according to sale flyers."
Why did you want to write a second book?
"The same reason I wanted to write a first book--for my kids! Also, I can't describe how wonderful it feels to be an accomplished bestselling author. Who would have thought?"
Why do you think your TV show has such wide appeal, with kids to grandmothers loving it?
"We are still surprised by the major ratings and reactions. Some people see us as 'inspiring' while we feel like we are just parents doing what it takes to raise our uniquely made up family. Little kids watch to 'make friends' with our kids. Teens watch because they babysit and don't have kids yet. Young married couples watch because they look to the future of their families. Young parents watch to get advice or see how we do things or even to remind themselves they 'have it easy.' Older parents watch to reminisce, as do grandparents.....and so on......."
What are your plans for the future in terms of your public life? Will we see more books, more TV shows, more marketing of your family?
"I know one thing for sure; I am never sure what the future holds for us! However, I am enjoying doing TV in all capacities that I have had the privilege of doing and my dream is that there is a future talk show waiting for me!"
Are you looking forward to your first Canadian appearance and why did you choose to make it in London?
"I AM looking forward to my first Canadian appearance. I happen to know that we have A LOT of fans in Canada so it should be extra exciting! By the way, I just learned that my grandma was born in London, Ontario, Canada so it will be extra special for me to visit."
Why did you choose to get two dogs in an already busy house? And how is the new home?
"We chose two dogs because we never do things in 'ones' and I guess my family caught me on a weak day."
Kate's new book includes photographs from their personal family albums, Scripture passages and thoughts from her, in her own handwriting.
Her first book "Multiple Blessings" was co-written with friend Beth Carson, and hit the New York Times bestseller list.

Oprah Today
Today Oprah had more of the new reality tv newbies on! She had Ruby and Little People Just Married on. Ruby is as nice as she is on the show and had lost 200 lbs. Jen and Bill show how it is to live an ordinary life being 3 ft tall. Then they had Jon and Kate on via satelite with all of the kids. Mady looked like she has her braces on now she was smiling with her mouth shut, and when it was shut it looked as if she had braces on. Hannah, Alexi and Leah are all getting so big, Aaden was sitting next to Mady Joel and Collin were on the floor. They asked about them videoing in the house and now the kids rooms are off limits, which is why they haven't been showing so much in the house, and where they can go in the kitchen which is standing in one area, I guess the basement and the other living room, are still free game. Tonight is the trip to the vet!

TRASH magazines talk about J&K+8
The quote from In Touch Magazine:
Jon & Kate's marriage is falling apart
The stars of Jon & Kate Plus 8 seem to be living separate lives as he parties and flirts with other women
Star Magazines Quote :
On TV, he is a harried father of eight with a wife who is constantly on his case, so it’s not surprising that Jon Gosselin needs to blow off some steam.
And in recent weeks, the star of the TLC reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8 has been doing just that — slipping away from his new $1.3 million mansion to party the night away with a bevy of college cuties!
The father of twins and sextuplets has been living it up in Huntingdon, Pa., where his mom resides. He turned up uninvited at a Feb. 6 party thrown by Juniata College seniors Erin Albert and Mariel Little — and ended up playing the drinking game beer pong with members of the women's volleyball team!
Personally I think these rag mags are a bunch of poop and wouldn't give them the satifaction of buying these, and for reasons like this I feel that Jon and Kate will be getting aggrivated and getting less and less personal in the show.

Star Magazine Reports Jon Partying........ Is it true or NOT....
Pick up this week's issue of Star — on sale Wednesday — for more shocking details on Jon's wild nights and how his mom tried to cover for him. Plus: Find out where Jon spent Valentine's Day night — without Kate!

Jon and Kate Under Attack again.......
Jon & Kate Plus 8 Under Attack: Are They Exploiting Their Kids?
Monday, 03/ 2/2009 at 8:30 AM Comments (101) I was reading Phillymag.com on Saturday while JD was napping. (Did I ever tell you I interned at Philadelphia Magazine when I was in college? I did. Good times!) I was completely entranced by a Jon & Kate Plus 8 expose--completely. People are pissed! Paaaaaaaaaaaa-issed! Are you?
Writer Jessica Remo reminds us about Kate's "sob story" of how she asked the community for help--and help her family got. Before the Gosselins brought home their six "Hershey Kisses" volunteers flooded their house with diapers and Sam's Club gift cards. Speaking of said house, NBC's remodeling reality show Home Delivery made it over.
Since we're talking about money and handouts, I felt a little uneasy reading that hundreds of people paid 10 bucks a pop to snap a "fuzzy picture" of the family at the First Assembly of God church in upstate New York during a family appearance. Remo also reported that Barnes & Noble set up an "impromptu" bookstore in the kiosk selling Kate's best-selling book, Multiple Blessings: Surviving to Thriving With Twins and Sextuplets.
As a result of the hit show with its nearly three million viewers, the Gosselins are provided with free, world-class trips. Kate remarks: "They get the publicity of the trip; we get the trip." I think that answer is too easy. I work for the magazine factory. You know all those pretty clothes you see in Glamour and Vogue and even First? Well, they are on loan. There is a fashion assistant in the closet calling in clothes and RETURNING them 24/7 (I know because I did this at First, among other things). And in a crunch, the assistant is buying the must-have skirt, tucking and taping the tag, shooting it--then returning it. (OK, sometimes a designer lets an editor keep something.) For Kate to call the freebies "free press" is BS. I'm sorry. Listen, every now and then a publicist sends me something for JD. I got some Ciao Bella. JD got some crayons. The swag is unexpected (but, OK, expected. I pen a blog for Glamour). Point is, the things that show up on my doorstep here and there (sparsely) are not a lifestyle. Storked! does not keep us going. It's one of my many freelance jobs. No one remodeled our apt. Gymboree does not supply JD with an endless wardrobe. I'm not getting free (aw, poor stressed-out mom) spa treatments. Jon got free hair implants. You know, it was press for the doctor. Just own it, Kate, that's all I ask. Tell people you couldn't comfortably afford 8 kids and now you can. Tell people that you and Jon do not hold jobs--that the show is your job, therefore the show is also your kids job. If the show was canceled, you'd be unemployed like a lot of Americans right now. Listen up, when I get stuff from people I literally blog, "THE PR DIRECTOR AT CIAO BELLA READS STORKED! SHE SENT ME SOME ICE CREAM. WHAT A NICE SURPRISE." I don't position the pint on the table and give JD a spoon. Storked! isn't an advertising blog. Sometimes I mention products by brand because if I can entertain my toddler with a ball popper while I fold laundry, you can too! (And I strive to provide service, along with personal anecdotes.) No one gave me a free ball popper. I bought it at Target! So when people on this blog say I am exploiting my kid I have to laugh. Out loud. If you scroll through my blogs, you'll find more fodder about me and what's going on in the media than you will about my son. And we talked about this before, so click here if you're a new reader.
Remo writes: Jon and Kate have booked more and more speaking engagements at churches, where, according to several attendees and organizers, the collection basket sometimes gets passed so audience members can make a "love offering" to the family. Sometimes, the duo sells autographed photos for $20 a pop (cash only). So, I guess they don't have to report that "cash only" to the IRS before April 15. Sorry. That was admittedly snarky. I'm doing my taxes this week. Stressed. I literally have shoeboxes of receipts.
Prior to the birth of the sextuplets the Gosselins launched, Sixgosselins.com. They posted a prayer list asking for a "15-passenger van and a house we fit into and can afford." Aside from the prayer list was a (advertising) praise list. It noted the companies that supplied things to the family. What's more, Remo reports: When the babies were six months old, family members, friends and neighbors got a letter containing the Gosselin's account number with the electric company, in case anyone felt moved to pay the couple's bill. (A TLC spokeswoman says the letter came from friends looking to help the Gosselins.) And the biggest red flag for me in the article: In California, Jon & Kate Plus 8 as it exists today would be highly illegal, explains Petersen (a former child actor from The Donna Reed Show who advocates for child stars, because of the state's extensive protections for all kids on camera, scripted or reality. But Pennsylvania doesn't offer similar protections.
Reading the article I couldn't help but think of Nadya Suleman. Her spokesperson appeared on Larry King Live the night before, so those tiny, precious babies with tubes and wires prodding at them were fresh in my mind. It's funny how people are condemning her, yet the Gosselins are, well, celebrities. (Except celebs don't charge their fans for a snapshot. I once had someone take a pic of Mischa Barton and me. She didn't ask me for 20 bucks. She just smiled.) OK, Nadya had six other kids. Kate and Jon had two. What's the magic number that says you're allowed to make more? I'm over arguing about Nadya's reproductive rights. If women can have abortions, then Nadya had a right to use her embryos. Maybe the doctor should have been more responsible. He implanted Nadya. She didn't knock herself up. And JUST LIKE the Gosselins, Nadya launched a website that accepts donations. Jon and Kate couldn't afford their babies either and the only reason they can is because companies provide them with toys, clothes, juice, diapers and of course TLC provides a paycheck. Lauren Conrad from MTV's The Hills makes a reported $75,000 an ep. I can only imagine what those cute kids pull in for their parents.
How do you feel about Jon & Kate Plus 8? Are you a fan of the show? Do you think it's fair to praise two parents for their efforts and shower them with gifts, yet mock a single mother who is merely being offered a fraction of what the Gosselins call press? What about the Gosselin kids? The article revealed that one of the kids' bedrooms had a sign taped on it. It read: "Stay Owt With Cameras." Discuss.
Click here to read a Q & A with writer Jessica Remo about her "Behind the Scenes" experience writing about the sensational family. She was called an "unethical journalist" by a PR person at TLC. Scandalous!
Full Disclosure: I didn't spell out wrong.

Jon and Kate + * Still Great!!!!!
The blogs have been buzzing overtime with rumors that there's trouble in the marriage of reality show stars Jon & Kate Gosselin. Hey with eight kids, who wouldn't fight? But certain blogs have taken the next step, reporting that Jon was seen at a bar in Pennsylvania hitting on -- and leaving with -- a younger woman.
But don't expect to see Jon & Kate in divorce court any time soon.
In a statement issued through his rep, Jon says: "It is certainly hurtful for people to spread rumors and lies about us. It certainly makes me reluctant to live my life like the average person would. This has made it very clear that the simplest innocent gesture -- such as taking a picture with a fan, can be taken out of context.
"As you can see on the show, I am not perfect, but I am a part of a loving family and couple."
Rumor dismissed, Jon. Get back to changing diapers!

In 2004, Kate Gosselin used a fertility treatment, heard six beating hearts on an ultra-sound machine and months later gave birth to sextuplets at Penn State's Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey.
Her husband, Jon Gosselin, is coming to Penn State Saturday to talk about his journey since his family went from two to 10 and his experience on TLC's Jon and Kate Plus 8.
Gosselin will speak from 6:30 to 9 p.m on Saturday in 100 Thomas about his family and life as a Korean-American as a featured guest of the Asian Pacific American Caucus.
Chen Zhou, treasurer for the Asian Pacific American Caucus, said the club tries to bring Asian-American speakers to Penn State each year to highlight Asian-American culture in a different way.
"The majority of the audience will be there for the TV show, so Jon will spend half the time talking about the show," Zhou (junior-premedicine) said. "And then I hope he'll spend the other half talking about his past, childhood and being Asian-American."
In May 2004, the sextuplets were born in Hershey and were hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit at the Hershey Medical Center. The Gosselins' twins -- Mady and Kara -- were only a few years old when the sextuplets -- Collin, Leah, Joel, Hannah, Aaden and Alexis -- were born.
Dana Pidliskey (junior-advertising) said she enjoys watching the kids grow up on the TV show.
"It is so interesting that they have so many kids and their personalities are enjoyable. I can relate to them," Pidliskey said. "They have religious values and are family-oriented. It's like almost watching my own family."
In conjunction with the speech, there will be a closed question-and-answer session in which Gosselin will answer questions submitted by students.
Students planning to attend the event have submitted their questions on Facebook.
"I want to see how the TV show has changed their lives and if it stops, what will their lives return to -- because they are semi-famous now," Karen Marietta (senior-music education) said.
Pidliskey said she wants to hear any advice Gosselin has for college students.
"I want to hear how his life is changing from popularity. And you don't hear him talk about his culture on the show," she said. "I want to learn more about him."

The New House
Well, watching them move makes me think oh my boxes of stuff! About Kate going to LA to me it seemed as if most of her stuff was done and John was bringing some things to the house and packing up what he needs to do waiting for Kate to get back. No matter how well prepared for the move that you are when it comes to the actual moving day there is still so much more to pack up, bedding and last minute things.
On Kate's choice of shirts Living the Dream, made me laugh b/c moving is so not glamorous!
Then once getting to the new house, the march of the ants bringing the boxes to where they are suppose to be and sorting through all the stuff that you do have. They looked like they were getting organized, the kids have more places to run, and hide so does Jon it seems from Kate her famous Where are you? Seems to be the newest question to everyone in the house! The more bathrooms, and room will lessen the stress of everyone being so cooped up, they will eventually spread out but they are still unsure of their surroundings I am sure. Well more on the new digs later!

Jon Gosselin Money Saving Tips
Jon Gosselin: Tips for Saving Money this Holiday!

Jon Gosselin made time for CafeMom's Daily Buzz last week! I asked for help to create questions for my interview. Thanks to my friends at CafeMom, I had lots of great questions for Jon. He was amazing, funny and very nice. Jon is working with Microsoft to give families ideas on how to save money this holiday season. Saving money and budgeting for presents is a concern for most families this year. Toddler Buzz had a great article last week on Budget Santa about cutting back for the holiday season. Jon and Kate are tightening their belts too and he gave me some great suggestions to help stretch the family budget.
aidensmomma508 asked how Jon and Kate buy presents for all the kids without going broke?
Jon: This year we are giving one big family gift to the kids. We have little gifts for their stockings but we decided to give the family one big present that we can all share. We are getting a new family computer, with a monster hard drive and web cam. I'm excited because I plan to use the computer to spend some quality time with the kids, by playing educational games. The kids are really excited to get the new computer, the older girls always have something they need for school, so this computer will be a big help.
bagjmama wanted to know how Jon and Kate stay awake on Christmas Eve, with so many kids to get things ready for.
Jon: I don't sleep much. I go to bed at 1am and get up at 6am, most days out of the year. So Christmas Eve isn't that hard on me!
Here are some other tips from Jon Gosselin:
Jon: I've read that many families are opting for a family gift this year. Some other ways families can save money by using computers and technology:
Keep in touch with friends and family using video messenger.
Start a blog to keep loved ones up to date on family news if you can't travel to visit.
Use digital photo frames to instantly share photos with friends and family.
Design your own holiday cards that cost pennies to print.
Kate and I used the Live Search cashback program this year and we were really happy with the results. Kate was a little skeptical at first but after she saw the money we got back, she was all for it!
I told Jon I wanted him to start an online training class for husbands, with the new computer's web cam! Since Jon listens to Kate, I would love my dear husband to take a class from him. Jon was very gracious and listened to my plea for husband help but don't look for any online classes anytime soon.
I really enjoyed talking to Jon. He was just as funny and nice in the interview as he appears on the show. I love the show and I know I'm not the only fan here at CafeMom!
If you are a Jon and Kate Plus 8 fan, the family website is another great way to keep up with the Gosselin family. In addition, Jon and Kate, along with friend Beth Carson, have a new book. Multiple Blessings: Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets is already a best-seller.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 is a reality television show produced in the United States by Figure 8 Films about the Gosselin family, consisting of parents Jon and Kate and their eight children—a set of fraternal twin girls and a set of sextuplets (three girls and three boys). The show follows the family through their daily lives, focusing on the challenges of raising multiple children. The show originally aired on Discovery Health but starting with Season 3, airs on TLC. It also is consistently one of the highest rated show on TLC (just behind Little People, Big World).[citation needed] The family originally appeared in a one-hour special titled Surviving Sextuplets and Twins. The family lives in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
Story
Kate Gosselin is one of five children.[1] She has three sisters and a brother. The latter, Kevin, is often seen on the television series with his wife, Jodi, and their four children Ashtyn, Braden, Alyssa, and Bennet.
Jonathan Gosselin is the middle child of three boys. His brothers are Thomas Jr. and Mark. His father, Thomas Gosselin, was a pediatric dentist who died in 2005. The couple met on October 5, 1997 at a picnic. According to the "How It All Began" episode, Jon was working at a hotel and Kate had recently graduated from her nursing program. According to Kate, "I never believed in 'love at first sight', but this came really close." They were married on June 12, 1999 in "a perfect garden wedding with equally perfect weather".
Kate's desire to start a family was met with a feeling that she would not be able to conceive. She underwent testing and was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. The couple decided to turn to fertility treatments and immediately began intrauterine insemination or IUI, a procedure where no embryos are left over from the procedure.[2] By February, Kate was pregnant with twins. The couple was thrilled, admitting to having prayed for twins because they were both baby crazy and feared they would fight over one baby. On October 8, 2000, Cara Nicole and Madelyn "Mady" Kate Gosselin were born, six minutes apart, after a "rough" pregnancy.[3]
Your whole life flashes in front of your eyes... we had a house that was too small, we didn’t have a vehicle big enough, we didn’t have the income that would be required... there were just all these things flying at us. All those thoughts flooding through my mind equaled completely impossible.
---Kate Gosselin[1]
When the twins turned three, Kate began to think about the possibility of having another child, while Jon was not so sure. On the couple's appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show that aired on February 22, 2008, Kate admitted that she had wanted to have another child because she wanted to know what it felt like to not have to split her time between two babies, while Jon was hesitant because he felt like the world is built for a family of four. According to Kate, a Korean infant became available while Kate was an obstetrics nurse. They decided not to adopt the baby boy, but instead return to fertility treatment.[3] By October, Kate was pregnant. Five weeks later (after being hospitalized for over-stimulated ovaries), at the initial ultrasound, the doctor announced that there were six sacs with seven yolks, or embryos. According to Kate, this was very emotional news for them, and left her shaking and sobbing and Jon near tears, unable to look at the sonogram screen. The doctor suggested selective reduction, but the couple was absolutely against doing so.[3]
After experiencing the "worst weekend of [her] entire life",[3] Jon took the girls to the family's church. He asked if he should tell anyone about their situation, and Kate agreed that he should so that the church could start praying for their family. As soon as church was over, Jon and Kate received many calls of encouragement. According to Kate, "I began to feel like we could do this! With God's help, of course!"[3]
In an article written for orato.com, Kate admitted that the video of her when she was pregnant with the sextuplets was actually three weeks before she gave birth. She added:
I remember lying in the hospital bed thinking, 'No matter how far I get these babies, it's never going to be far enough.' Getting to 32 weeks was my goal, but that would still be eight weeks premature, times six. Every day starting at about 23 weeks I had an ultrasound to make sure that all of them were still alive, and each and everyday was just as nerve wracking as the one before. There wasn't an ounce of relief until they were all home. Not long after we had them home, Jon whirled around one day with complete frustration and exhaustion in his voice and said, 'Do you realize we have been walking on eggshells now for an entire year?' That was the honest truth.
—Kate Gosselin, [1]
The sextuplets were born on May 10, 2004(2004-05-10) at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. All six children were delivered within a span of three minutes with more than fifty doctors, nurses and other specialists involved. Since the sextuplets were born in Hershey, they were called "Hershey Kisses" by the nurses and doctors who delivered them.

Following the first two one-hour specials and prior to beginning filming on the series permanent light fixtures were installed in the Gosselin's home to facilitate filming and prevent the children from tripping over the wires and cables of temporary lighting. Unlike some reality series in which the stars are filmed at all times, Jon & Kate Plus 8 is filmed three days a week with one day set aside for the interview sessions where Jon and Kate, and occasionally the children, discuss the events which take place in each episode. Jon and Kate also work closely with producers to decide what themes will be presented in each episode. Jon and Kate have remarked that over the years the production crew has become part of the family.[4]

Kate has advice for mom of octopulets
Kate Gosselin has a piece of advice for the Whittier mom who gave birth to octuplets: People will judge you, people will gawk at you, but "keep your head up, and do your absolute best for your children."
Kate is the star of TLC's hit TV show "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which follows the never-boring life with her husband, Jon, and their eight children -- a set of twins and a set of sextuplets.
"I felt like I had octuplets ... I had eight in three years," Kate said. "[The news of the octuplets' birth] caused me to review the feelings and emotions I had when my six were born! So overwhelming!"
The birth of the octuplets to Nadya Suleman, a Whittier woman "who loves children," has raised concerns about the number of embryos implanted and whether the procedure was within medical guidelines.
We asked Kate to reflect on the day-to-day realities that lie ahead for the new mom, the octuplets and their six siblings. (Truth be told, we originally tried to interview the Duggars, who have 18 kids and their own TV show on Discovery, but they declined because, believe it or not, they said they couldn't relate to having eight infants all at the same time.)
Kate answered questions via e-mail from Chicago, where she is doing a book signing for Multiple Blessings: Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets.
Q.: What is the new mom experiencing physically? Emotionally?
A.: Right now, the mother is likely exhausted yet grateful that her babies are here and doing well so far! She is probably inundated with offers from people, companies and the media. Her main focus now though is her babies and their health.... Nothing else matters right now. She is feeling overwhelmed and as though she is in a fog. Feelings of helplessness and fear threaten to overtake! We relied on prayer and lots of it!!! We were blessed with all healthy babies and still don't forget that miracle!
Q.: She’s feeling exhaustion, no doubt, but does she even have time to be exhausted with eight new mouths to feed?
A.: She will ignore her exhaustion and will have to for the rest of her life! The babies' health matters most now. But it will be important for her to take care of herself too or she will not be of any use to her children!
Q.: She is said to be planning on breastfeeding. What do you think about that? Is that even possible?
A.: I think by 'breastfeeding' she plans on offering the option to each baby ... but will pump and supplement for all of them. I pumped/breastfed for six months for my six.... Quite a feat! It was the least I could do for my babies! There is literally not enough time to exclusively breastfeed six let alone eight babies.
Q.: What is she likely to be worried about as she contemplates a future with 14 children? (Other than those college payments.)
A.: Right now, the issue is getting through each day, each hour, each minute. Every day will have issues of its own.... She can and will survive!
Q.: What can she do to help her other six children adjust to their new life?
A.: She can get them involved in the care of the babies.... Point out their unique qualities.... And, no joke, help the other kids learn which baby is which. Quite a job! I remember Cara and Mady being frustrated with themselves when they got babies confused at first! It didn't take long!:) Taking time with each child will definitely be a challenge!
Q.: Will she have to be willing to ask for help when she needs it?
A.: There is absolutely no way she will survive without tons of help!!! Period.
Q.: What’s the one piece of advice that you didn't get, that you’d like to pass along to this new mother?
A.: There are no words to describe the overwhelming emotions that will flow from you -- ones you will have to suppress till way later, ones that you think will overtake you. People will want to help, people will want to simply gawk, others will judge you. Through all of this, keep your head up, and do your absolute best for your children.... You'll never regret it.
Q.: What would you do if you had 14 children? Can you imagine it?
A.: I cannot imagine having any more than eight. It would be almost double my workload and even though I am very organized, I could not do it well!

Kate Gosselin Breaking Leg was a RUMOR
Kate just attended the Christian Women's Girls Night Out In Texas and she was walking just fine, and in heels. So who ever start the rumor on the Jon and Kate + 8 forum doesn't obviously know all of the facts behind the story and was in for some gossip.
Kate gives advice to mom of octopulets
"I would say, first of all, congratulations on your hard hard work -- getting your babies here safe and sound!," she beamed. "Second, hold on. The NICU is quite a scary ride. Finally, you can do this -- from now until forever, you will struggle with a gamut of emotions but you can and you will be okay."
Gosslin goes on to caution the California mother that, like all new moms, she should "look forward to feelings of overwhelming proportions -- good, bad and ugly." But unlike moms of singles or twins, moms of remarkable multiples will be barraged by outsiders. "People will pop up with advice when they have no idea [of] the situation." And of course, more babies means more help, which means more people around all the time.
The new mom should be prepared for a "loss of privacy, and loneliness," Gosselin said. "It's all survivable, though, if you are determined enough."
All the California octuplets are still in the NICU. While they are reported to be doing well, they aren't out of the woods yet; three of the eight require breathing assistance. Their doctors indicated that the next seven days will be critical for all eight babies.
Serious medical uncertainties is something Gosselin relates to, saying that she and husband Jon got through the NICU with "Lots of prayer!" She also cautions, though, that "our babies sailed through the NICU. But that was rare and a miracle to say the least." We hope that the octuplets have as easy a time as the Gosselin's sextuplets did.
Finally, Gosselin has a simple but powerful piece of advice for the new mom: "Trust God's plan -- He knows best!" We're sure that lots of people -- Kate Gosselin included -- will be keeping these tiny babies in their prayers in the days to come.

Multiple Blessing Signings....
Here are a few date that are coming up soon where Kate will be at Barnes and Noble, signing the Multiple Blessing Books.
January 31st: Sovereign Performing Arts Center Reading, PA (Jon)
January 31st-Feb. 1st: Willow Creek Plum Grove, IL (Kate)
February 4th: Indianapolis Home Show (Kate)
February 10th: The B&N Palisades Center West Nyack, NY (Kate)
Three free things: Kate from Jon & Kate Plus 8, music and out of this world fun
Zondervan: Hand out
All ten members of the Gosselin family.
Kate Gosselin, the Kate part of Jon and Kate Plus 8, was at the Champion Forest Baptist Church Thursday night, but if you're not really on top of the church's event schedule chances are you missed out. Those tickets sold out quick.
No worries though for the Kate fans out there. Gosselin, the super-organized, super-clean super-mom of twin girls and sextuplets will be at the Barnes and Noble in Pearland Town Center Friday night from 6-9 p.m.
She will be signing copies of her book, Multiple Blessings. In the book Gosselin admits she's a "bit of a control freak." (MomHouston admits she knew that already.) In case you're wondering Jon and the kids probably won't be there, so the truly devoted fans of the show won't get to see her yell or slap at him.

Moving Around
Everyone is moving around on the show, I just saw in the real estate transactions that Beth and Bob Carson sold their house the "estate" as Kate had called it, for 1.9 million and downsized to a house for 255,000. Wondering why such a switch, but it looks like they will be closer to the Gosselins, they are about 15 miles apart.

MARCY — Looking at the seven round circles on the ultrasound screen overwhelmed Kate Gosselin.
Most people expect one baby, or maybe even twins.
But septuplets?
“Without a doubt, it was the absolute scariest thing I had seen,” Gosselin said.
On Saturday, nearly 600 people turned out at the First Assembly of God hear about that to experience from Gosselin, of the cable television reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8.” The program airs on TLC.
Jon was not able to make the event.
Poised on a stool in an intimate stage setting, Kate spoke candidly about how she came to terms with being pregnant with what would become six babies after one of the fetuses stopped growing.
She pondered what life would be like for her, Jon and the couple’s fraternal twins, Cara and Madelyn.
And at times the thought of six car seats, six cribs and a vehicle to fit everyone was too much to bear.
Medical staff even asked her whether she and Jon would consider a reduction in the number of fetuses.
The answer was “no.”
On May 10, 2004, the sextuplets – Alexis, Aaden, Collin, Leah, Hannah and Joel – were born.
It took at least two to three years for her to accept the impact of their multiple births, she said, and it took working through feelings of anger and loneliess.
As a couple, the Gosselins endured tough times that included Jon’s losses of employment after employers decided the costs to insure his family would be too burdensome.
The peace of God and Bible scriptures pulled her through the tough times, she said, and she refused to worry.
“This was God’s plan for us, for whatever reason,” Kate said.
There were good times, too, of course. The Gosselins received an outpouring of help and support from family, friends and some businesses to help with the costs of raising six infants.
What Jon and Kate couldn’t do in their own strength, God did, Kate said.
“I learned that I am not in control,” she said. “God is.”
The Gosselins’ story continues to inspire many residents, including Marleigh Scialdone, 10, of Marcy.
Marleigh began watching the show with her mother, Deanna Scialdone.
“When my mom had cancer in Rochester, we would call and watch it over the phone,” Marleigh said.
“It was just something for us to do since we were so far apart.”
While on stage Saturday, Kate read questions submitted by audience members, including the one submitted by Marleigh.
Marleigh waited in line for Kate to sign the book, “Multiple Bles8ings: Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets,” by Beth Carson and Jon and Kate, and she had a message to share with Kate.
“I’m going to tell her that question is from me, and that I’m really excited to meet her, and that she’s a really good role model,” she said.

KMart Considers Kate's Layaway Plan
January 15, 2009
Kmart considers bringing back Kate Gosselin as spokeswoman
Following her successful run as a spokeswoman for its holiday layaway plan, Kmart is considering bringing back Kate Gosselin to star in more ads, according to a company rep. The polarizing star of Jon & Kate Plus 8 has been attacked by critics who claim she is exploiting her children for fame and fortune. Kmart rep Tom Aiello says, "She did a good job communicating the layaway program. We're looking to carry that relationship into late spring, but nothing is concrete." He says Kmart has received "positive feedback" on Kate, but "we're going to be smart as we move ahead. We'll look and see if there is a change in opinion."

Gosselins buy property in Utah and have 2 dogs
Discovery Channel shoots episode oh father, daughter's love of Park City
Adia Waldburger, of the Record staff

When The Learning Channel (TLC) sent the Gosselin family to Park City last winter, it turns out it was familiar territory for one family member. Jon Gosselin, father of twins and sextuplets on the hit show, "Jon and Kate plus Eight" was an avid snowboarder long before he ever set foot in Utah.
The Pennsylvania native grew up snowboarding at Eastern ski resorts, mixing in trips to places like Jackson Hole, Beaver Creek, Vail, and even Chamonix Mt Blanc in France all before age 19. Then "real life," as he calls it, in the form of a wife and more kids than he could count came into the picture and the snowboard was stored. But after The Canyons Resort invited the family and the show to visit last year, an old love affair with the mountains was rekindled after 10 years away.
Gosselin, 31, said he took to the slopes like he had never left.
"It all came back," he said.
The more thrilling part is that his daughter, Cara, age 8, is a natural on the slopes.
Since that trip, Gosselin had been wanting to make skiing and snowboarding a daddy-daughter bonding experience, and last week he finally did something about it.
With the TLC film crew in tow, Gosselin and Cara headed back to The Canyons. When it was time for Cara to head back to school, Gosselin made the decision to stay a few days and make a more permanent mark on the area. He will be purchasing a condo within The Canyons village to give his family a little home away from home in Utah. Well, at least Jon and Cara, that

is. Gosselin's wife, Kate, is an admitted indoors type and he figures she won't be in on too many ski vacations.
"I'm looking for a father-daughter place," Gosselin said.
Gosselin says the plan is to have a place to visit each winter and to continue riding on a regular basis. He says that he really enjoys Park City and the Canyons, and even in his 30s, he says that he fits right in with the young crowd on the mountain.
"It's nice because I have eight kids, two dogs and live in Pennsylvania, and I can still hang with 15-year-olds," he said.
Gosselin has been riding with friends and pro riders at the resort and spending the evenings discovering what Park City and Salt Lake have to offer. But he is most excited to set some vacation roots right here.
"You can do whatever you want here. I go places you can connect with people and it feels like a family," Gosselin said.
He had never been in Utah before last year and once said in an interview that all he knew about Utah was "powder, Mormons and Moab." Since then, his world has opened up to the warm community and top-notch snow and it looks like Gosselin will soon be a part-time resident.

Line runs out the door for Kate's Book Signing
GRANDVILLE -- As cable network TLC aired a marathon of Kate Gosselin's hit reality show Wednesday night, more than 1,000 people turned out to see the star of "Jon and Kate Plus 8" in person.
The Gosselin familyGosselin, the mother of twins and sextuplets, was at Barnes & Noble at RiverTown Crossings mall signing copies of "Multiple Bles8ings," the book she and her husband, Jon, wrote about their 10-member family.
The line for her book signing snaked through the store's aisles, out the door and down the mall's main walkway.
Linda Arnold Schuhardt, Barnes & Noble's community relations manager, figured there were at least 1,500 people with about "700 people (in line) just in the store. and the line out of here is all the way down to Sears."
"I'd say we maybe were a little busier with 'Harry Potter,'" she said. "But after that, this is the busiest. It's definitely rivaling 'Harry Potter.'"
Grandville resident Lois Hundley was first in line.
She claimed her spot Wednesday afternoon, four hours before the book signing started. The 68-year-old saved a space for her granddaughter, Haylie Edema, 11, with whom she watches "Jon and Kate Plus 8."
"This is just my favorite show, and my favorite baby to watch it with," said Hundley, patting Haylie on the shoulder. " I would have waited a lot longer than this to meet" Gosselin.
The Gosselins are parents of 8-year-old twins Mady and Cara and 4-year-old sextuplets Collin, Leah, Joel, Hannah, Aaden and Alexis.
The show began in 2007. Cascade Township-based Christian book publisher Zondervan released "Multiple Bles8ings" on Oct. 14, with more than 400,000 copies in print.
Kate Gosselin is in West Michigan to record the audio-book version of "Multiple Bles8ings," Zondervan spokeswoman Karen Campbell said.
Gosselin's 7 p.m. appearance spurred a buying frenzy for the book. Barnes & Noble ran out of its copies before her appearance, and sold out of the more than 400 extra copies Zondervan rushed to the store.
Among the mostly female crowd, 30-year-old Brandon Greer, of Kentwood, stood out. The Forest Hills Public Schools teacher got a book signed for his mother.
"One of her high points each week is seeing Kate on TV, so to get the book signed is completely worth it," said Greer, in line three hours before the signing. "I would have waited six more hours."
He had his picture taken with Gosselin, and said he was impressed with her cheerful demeanor.
"She smiled and laughed and said to say 'hi' to my mom. You could tell she's a very warm person, and really, really nice," Greer said.
Although the line still was spilling out the door at the 10 p.m. closing time, Barnes & Noble staff cut things off. They suggested those still in line attend Gosselin's book- signing at 6:30 p.m. today at Baker Book House, 2768 East Paris Ave. SE, or in Lansing on Friday.

"People have been very gracious, very nice and well-behaved," Arnold Schuhardt said. "And Kate, wow, I can't believe how nice she is. She's personalizing every single book.
"You don't see other authors doing that. But she's got groupies. They're giving her gifts. I've never seen that before."

Today's Christian Women Talks to Kate Gosselin
TCW Talks to Kate Gosselin
The mom of twins and sextuplets and star of the TLC hit reality show Jon & Kate Plus Eight talks candidly about nagging her husband, trusting her God, and living her crazy life in front of the camera.
Camerin Courtney | posted 1/07/2009
All Kate Gosselin wanted was one more baby.
She and her husband, Jon, had three-year-old twins, Cara and Madelyn (called "Mady"), who had arrived, with the help of fertility treatments, in 2000. Due to Kate's polycystic ovary syndrome, she had to undergo fertility treatments for her second pregnancy as well. The stunning result was not one baby, but six. When Kate's obstetrician suggested selective reduction, both Kate and Jon immediately rejected the idea. "Who would live and who would die was not a decision that rested in our hands," Kate explains.
After months of grueling medical treatments and bedrest (and 65 pounds of baby weight!), Kate gave birth to Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel in 2004. An army of friends and strangers invaded their suburban Pennsylvania home to help with feeding, bathing, changing, and monitoring the bustling brood. Their presence was both life-saving and stress-inducing for uber-organized, type-A Kate.
Intrigued by news reports on the Gosselins' unusual family, producers at Discovery Health filmed Surviving Sextuplets and Twins, which aired in May 2006, as well as Surviving Sextuplets and Twins: One Year Later. These shows eventually birthed Jon & Kate Plus Eight, currently TLC's highest-rated show. Now in its fourth season, the show takes its millions of fans inside the Gosselins' home, where there are strict rules, abundant laughter, frequent nagging, and constant praise for God's provision.
This past November, Kate, 33, and Jon, 31, released Multiple Blessings (Zondervan), a book chronicling their amazing pregnancy and difficult first year as parents of eight (the twins are now eight and the sextuplets, four). Click here to read a chapter from this book, sharing six lessons Kate has learned from being a mom of sextuplets. And read on for our conversation with this exhausted, faith-filled, and refreshingly real woman.
What motivated you to invite the public to watch your life on the TLC show?
I just want people to see realness. From the beginning, I had no desire to paint a sweet little picture of our lives. We did many news interviews after the sextuplets were born, and they always turned out so cute and cuddly. Yes, the babies were cute and cuddly, but those news stories never showed real life. Because in reality, Jon and I argued. We didn't get any sleep. We were so exhausted, we were shaking. We didn't know which end was up.
So when we started the show, I wanted to reveal the truth. We have nothing to hide. We're not perfect; we're the first to admit that. But no family is perfect. And I think that's why people relate to the show.
And yet some people have been critical of the show.
Yeah. I definitely know there's a lot of ugliness out there about us. Honestly, I think a lot of it's because people squirm at how real we are. I think it bothers some people because it makes them think, If cameras were at my house, what would they capture? Would I be okay with that being aired?
Sometimes I wonder why it doesn't bother me that the cameras capture everything we say and do.
Why doesn't it?
I think part of it is that I realize life is a struggle no matter how many kids you have. And that our responsibility is only to God and our family.
Do you feel the show captures you guys accurately?
I do. We actually forget the cameras are there a lot of the time. We don't do anything differently when they're on. Of course, sometimes they'll edit things a certain way for the sake of drama. Over three days I could have three different issues with Jon, and in 23 minutes they're going to show all three of those. So it looks like I melted down several times in a short period of time.
It must be difficult to be cast in a negative light.
A bit. But I understand why they're doing that. And I like that the show captures us in all our messiness.
Overall, I do feel like the show captures our personalities well. It shows how Jon is the peacemaker, the helper, the follower. And it shows how I'm the organized thinker who gets out-of-control in charge at times.
I'll bet those characteristics create some interesting dynamics in your marriage.
Yes! I know it looks like I'm ordering Jon around, but he literally asks me to. He's very happy to follow my lead in the day-to-day decisions of our household. He'd never want to be in charge, even if I said, "That's it. I'm done." And I have said that before.
So I'm a type-A personality who likes to lead. And we really need that in a family of our size. Sure, I control to the point where I wish I could lay off—and everybody else wishes I could too. But that's part of my personality; I feel like there's a plan and we need to follow it.
With these differing personalities and your crazy schedule, how do you and Jon stay connected?
When the babies were born, I was well aware that our marriage could crumble. It was close to doing so at times. But we survived that first year. And then the second one. And then each year after that. Even though the issues have changed, it's never gotten easier.
But Jon and I are more determined than ever that we're in this together. We've told our kids many times that we're always going to be a family. There are no other options. Sure, Jon and I take our stress out on each other, and no, that's not always good or healthy. But we work hard as a team every day.
The life we're leading is so not what we envisioned back when we got married or even after we had the babies. Friends, family, neighbors—nobody understands our strange life. Jon's the only one who gets it. He's in my corner. And that's so wonderful.
Do you get any time just for you in the midst of children and cameras and everything?
I used to think taking a shower by myself was enough, or enjoying a quiet house once the kids went to bed at night. But I finally realized it's like I'm at work all the time.
I don't go to the office and come home; the "office" is always there.
Over the years, if anybody sent me money just for me, I saved it. But a couple months ago, I told Jon I'm using that money to go to the spa once a month. He was all for it. I get a massage and a pedicure. Of course, I still feel guilty leaving him and the kids, but I look forward to that time like you wouldn't believe.
Jon followed suit with regular golf outings. We've realized how important that time away is.
What difference have you noticed since you guys started doing that?
When I come home I've really missed the kids, and I'm ready to jump back in again to all the noise and commotion. Though I admit it takes me about a half hour to get used to the pace again. The time away just makes me a better mom, period. I think I missed that in the early years.
How do you and Jon invest in your family's spiritual life?
Our family attends church together. That's important to us. But I struggle with family devotions. Obviously we have two different age groups in our family—and a lot of noise. So I can't say devotions are happening on a daily basis.
But we do talk a lot about God's blessings and provision. That's a constant conversation in our house, one that started a long time ago when we didn't have enough of something and God provided it. I've always made a point to say, "Oh my goodness, look what Jesus gave us."
So you're instilling gratitude in your kids.
Right. And when we pray before dinner every night, it's not just "Thank you, Jesus, for our food. Amen." It's always Jon and me pouring out the issues of the day—whatever happened that day, whatever we need to trust God for. A lot of times that leads to meaningful family discussions.
Cara and Mady got Bibles recently. They each picked out their own. It's amazing to watch them discover verses for themselves. Mady will read something and say, "Oh, that's a good verse." I'll ask, "What does that mean?" She'll explain it, and I'll be so moved that she totally gets it. I feel like I'm rediscovering Scripture through them.
How difficult is it to have that personal spiritual time with your kids while you've got cameras around?
Truthfully, I wish they'd cover more of our faith. But it's their decision to edit the episodes as they see fit. They've followed us to church.
As far as our personal time, I have a daily e-mail devo that I receive. I do that on my own. I feel poured out and spent so often that I need the encouragement and wisdom Scripture offers.
As a self-described type-A personality, how difficult is it to trust God?
I feel like it took me having sextuplets to realize I'm not in control. Honestly, if I'd never had the kids, I'm sure I never would have learned to rely on God. The pressure of twins and sextuplets is beyond any human capability. I'm to the point now where I'm so much happier to be dependent on God's capable care. I'd never go back to the "easy life" with two kids.
And I'm trying to trust God to have the right response to Jon. I'm still hard on him at times, but I think I'm softening.
That's difficult for any married couple, even without the pressure of twins and sextuplets.
It is. And those lessons aren't learned overnight. It's not like we learn to be more patient once and then we're set. It's a lifelong learning process. It's just all about letting God be in control and trusting his plan for our lives. Besides, what we think is great isn't always his plan. And at this point in my life, I don't want to do anything that's outside his plan, even if that means giving up something I really want or love. Because if it's not his plan, I know he has something better.
That must not be easy for you to say since some of his plan for you has been difficult.
Definitely. It's not like everything has always been rosy. I mean, we really struggled through the pregnancy and that first year with the sextuplets. But now I can honestly say I'm thankful for those seasons of struggle because I'll never take anything for granted.
Kate answers your questions:
You sent us your queries about Kate's crazy life—and she answered:
How important is getting your family to church every Sunday?
And how successful are you in achieving that goal?
Jon and I speak at other churches a lot of Sundays. But whenever we're home, our family is in church together. It's a big priority.
What's your favorite verse?
Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." I have that one posted on our bathroom mirror.
On the show you seem pretty bossy. Do you really get along with your husband?
Yes! I can honestly say Jon is my best friend. He's the only one who, besides God, has been there with me and shared this crazy ride. That's so valuable because the life we live is so unusual.
How much sleep do you get a night, and is it enough?
I get around seven hours of sleep. Jon gets up early and handles the first phase of our morning routine with Cara and Mady. I straggle behind, usually by 7:00 or 7:15.
Do you and Jon get any alone time as a couple?
After the kids are in bed at night, which happens between 8:00 and 8:30. Jon and I are both night owls; we're up until midnight most nights. Actually, I used to go to bed early, but Jon converted me to a night owl a few years ago.
Will the show continue after the sextuplets go to school this fall?
I don't know. You'd have to ask God. We don't ever know where we're going to be and what we're going to be doing. I don't have a grand plan anymore. I'm okay to be wherever God wants us.

5-Minute Time Out: Kate Gosselin
Gwynne Watkins
In an alternate universe, Jon and Kate Plus Eight's Kate Gosselin could have been the mom we all love to hate: children with coordinated outfits, a spotless home, every detail of her life meticulously planned and executed. However, in this universe, Kate Gosselin gave birth to twins, followed four years later by sextuplets — and with her type-A personality subverted by the constant chaos of eight children, she's become one of reality televison's most sympathetic characters. When I went to interview Kate at a New York City Brandsaver promotion, two hundred female fans were lined up outside in the freezing cold, hoping to get a moment with her (along with a handful of Proctor & Gamble coupons). Babble talked to Kate about her obsessive money-saving strategies, why text messaging is her favorite form of communication, and how the Gosselin kids really feel about living on camera. — Gwynne Watkins
So, you're here to talk about saving money. How has your own financial situation changed over the past couple of years?
Well, actually you know, we're still the same. We're still clipping the coupons, saving the money, watching for sales. That's me. I'm still the same person.
Did you ever have a moment of financial panic before the show when you thought, "Oh my God, how am I going to do this?"
Well, seeing as how Jon was unemployed for nearly a year and we had eight kids, yeah! That is when my coupon-clipping and my sale-watching and my literal obsession. I had a "prices/places" book that I started back then and still have, to figure out the cheapest place to buy any number of things — toilet paper, everything toiletry-wise that we buy, food, whatever — down to the tenth of a cent.
You literally keep a list of the prices of every single item you buy at every place you shop?
It's a book that I wrote out. Sam's Club drives me nuts because they keep changing prices by four cents. [Laughs.]
How old were the kids when Jon lost his job?
He lost his job before they were born, because of the pregnancy, and of course I lost my job because of the pregnancy, that goes without saying. He was unemployed for ten months, so we survived. We got smart fast. We learned what to cut out and it was then that I realized that saving money is not optional; it's mandatory.
On the show, we rarely see your kids with anyone except you or Jon. What kind of help do you have?
Very minimal, because we want it that way. We patch our help together as we need it, but it's important that one of us is with the kids 95% of the time. We've always switched our shifts off and on, like Jon would work days, I would work evenings back when we had two kids, and then he would work days and I would work weekends when we had all eight. Now we're blessed enough that we can work from home, but then when I travel he is home, and when he travels I am home. As much as possible, we want to be the ones to raise them, so it's important.
Is he home with them now?
Yes he is, holding down the fort. And he does a good job.
When you check in, do you call and talk to every single kid?
I have him call me. He'll know my general schedule, and then he'll call me because it's loud there and he's got to have the chance. Like, it doesn't help if I'm available at five o'clock but the kids are eating dinner, because he can't hear me. Texting works best. And I always say my motto is "No news is good news." [Laughs.]
What is something people could do to save money that might not occur to them?
I don't think enough people realize that coupons are money. The other thing is, you can save money by really looking at what you spend and shaving down those things that aren't necessary. We all have to buy food, and there are the extra things, the little treats that we all deserve because we work and it's nice, but there's all that stuff in between that you can save a bunch of money just by cutting down.
Is there a sacrifice you've had to make in particular?
Back in the beginning, it was very difficult just to wrap our minds around buying shoes and clothing for eight kids. You know, going from two to eight, obviously the shoe bill alone went through the roof. I feel like we made a lot of sacrifices, but parents make sacrifices for their kids and it's worth it, and you don't think twice about it. If they need new clothes, they get them, and if you need clothing, you're a little lower on the list. You do that because that's what parents do.
What is a common misconception you think people have about you, from watching you on TV?
I know people think that I treat Jon horrendously, which, that's the way we communicate. It's not always wonderful, but you know, I'm working on it. Aren't we all working on our relationships? I think it comes across that we yell at each other, but we're really yelling over the noise a lot of the time. When you have to talk that loud it tends to sound like you're yelling instead of talking, but we're all works in progress and none are perfect.
One thing that comes across on the show is that you are very orderly and like keeping things a certain way. Has having kids caused you to relax at all, or has it made you tighten your grip?
I still like a schedule that runs properly. I still like order. I still like organization. Everything has its place because, with eight kids, if you lose track of those things and you relax too much, it will spin out of control. The flip side of that is, while I still enjoy all of those things, I cannot be as ridiculously over the top as I once was. I feel like in the last year or two I have really started to chill. Like, I've forced myself, whereas once if I saw a crumb on the kitchen floor I would swoop to get it no matter what I was doing, and now, just the other day, I challenged myself to step over it and keep walking. [Laughs.] It's like my own little therapy and I did it, and didn't someone come along behind me and pick it up and throw it away! I made no mention of the crumb, I just stepped over it and someone came along and threw it away, and I thought, "Alright, that works too." But the point is, I have relaxed. I am a lot better than I was. I feel a lot better being that way and I know that if I try control every little facet of every little thing, I'll go insane.
That's really funny; one thing I've noticed since I've had my baby, a little tiny life thing that no one tells you about, is you're carrying him to another room and you drop something, you can't stop and pick it up all of the time.
It's true.
There are all these little tiny ways that you used to have control, and you suddenly don't anymore.
Now take something that little, and add up five of those things and you could maybe go nuts. And that is the truth.
What's been the hardest phase of motherhood for you so far?
The first year, with unemployment, with six additional people in my house. Read Multiple Blessings, you can see that I really, really struggled. Hard, very hard. Love my kids, so glad it's done.
What's an advantage that you have over people with small families?
Well, we have eight times the laughter, eight times the noise. We're a sports team in and of ourselves; we can split into two and be two full basketball teams playing against each other. We Christmas carol and we're a whole Christmas caroling group. We don't even need company to have a dinner party. Those are our advantages, I'd say.
How is your family dynamic changing as the kids get older?
Their personalities are really coming out and we're starting to see who they are and who they will become. The kids are close. They love each other. I'm starting to see, like, by the time they get to high school, don't mess with them! They're a group of six — back off. That tightness is there. We're really starting to see it. They help each other out. They take care of each other when they're sick. That kind of stuff is neat.
Jon said early on in the series that you had a much harder job than he did, being the one to stay home with the kids. Have you ever felt ambivalent about being the one who has that job?
Never. While I enjoy getting to do a little more of this kind of [publicity] stuff, home is where my heart is. I enjoy cooking and providing for the kids in that kind of way, doing the laundry. I'm probably close to the happiest when I'm in my kitchen or doing laundry. I don't like to fold it and put it away, but I do love doing it; it's just those mom processes that I love. I never envied him.
No? If you could switch with Jon's job for a week, would you do it?
I feel like we have switched a little bit recently, but no, back in that day, no. I worked on Saturdays for those years at the beginning of the little kids and I was gone for eighteen hours, every Saturday. By the time I took the leap of faith and quit that job, we still needed the money, but I couldn't take away a Saturday from my family every week. I mean, I was absent. It was huge. So every Saturday for a year and a half after quitting that job, I'd get up and make pancakes and say, "Oh, I'm so glad to be home." I really felt strongly about being at home, and the girls cheered when I told them I quit my job. They had missed me on Saturdays. So that was nice.
You have faced some criticism for having your kids on camera twenty-four hours a day. What's your take on that?
I feel like it's normal and healthy for our family. I feel like we're inspiring and helping a lot of people. I feel like as long as it's safe and healthy and normal for our kids, it's fine. The added benefit of the show that we never forget is, again, we work from home. We work many nights until midnight, finishing up e-mails and things that are due for tomorrow. The kids are playing and living life. It's the hardest job we've ever had, but we're very thankful for it because we can work from home and our kids are with us 95% of the time. Never in a million years did I think that would happen, so I'm really grateful for it. It's working for us and I think that our kids — with the traveling experiences, with the different life experiences that they get — they're all the better for it. I don't expect other people to understand it, because they don't live our lives so they really almost can't say without being in our situation. It's a weird situation, so, that's what I have to say about that.
Do your kids have a sense that other kids don't get followed around by cameras?
No. Little kids at this age, their normal is normal. I'm sure they assume that ever child at school has cameras following them. They'll figure it out later and be like, "Oh, alright. Cool."

Cool."
